Robert Floyd Photography - BIO Statement
Robert Floyd is a working photojournalist, an award winning nature photographer and owner/director of The Robert Floyd Photo Gallery and Learning Center.
Robert's scenic and wildlife images have been installed from private collections to boardrooms and universities. He has successfully
completed over 2,250 assignments alone in the ten years of the 1990s.
Robert Floyd was born and raised in Fall River, schooled in Boston and Long Island and NYC, and spent a few "lifetimes in Manhattan." Back in his native state,
Floyd continues his career as a photojournalist with assignments in NYC and New England. For nearly eight years, The Robert Floyd Photo Gallery and Learning Center have
been a successful venue for many area novice, intermediate and advanced photographers. Floyd teaches many aspects of film and digital photography
through his numerous photo workshops for novice, intermediate and advanced photographers at The Gallery's Learning Center and MA Audubon. His students at St. John's University and UMASS
continue to expand their photographic horizons.
Robert makes a living photographing spot news, general news, features, sports, portraits, pictorials, documentaries, photo essays, illustrations,
annual reports, special events, and yes…clients' weddings! Floyd has the ability to communicate and fit in and a willingness to go all out for
as long as necessary. "It's about coming back with great imagess in what are not always the easiest circumstances." Creating beautiful photographs
in a whirlwind of activity under pressure, time after time, on demand is his expertise. It's the excitement and the anticipation of the unknown
that keep Floyd constantly on his toes and aware of his surroundings.
Floyd summarizes his photography, "Photojournalists have the power, duty and privilege to bring light to a darkened world. They must have 'the
ability to go with the flow', but also to have a general idea of how the flow goes. The real guts of photo- journalism, it appears to me, is to
make a difference."
Robert Floyd has been capturing images of the social, entertainment, corporate and sports words for the past 25 years. Through the seasons, he
has been commissioned to capture many famous faces, from George Bush to Jimmy Carter, from Yogi Berra to Maya Angelou, from Warren Bufffet to
Michael Dell, from Michael Jackson to the Alvin Alley Ballet, from homeless shelters to buildings by I. M. Pei, from Trump to MacEnroe, from
Ron Brown to Judy Collins and hundreds and hundreds more… and he is the photographer who makes writers look like authors.
"It's all part of the adventure… all in the journey…we never really arrive at a destination."
Robert creates high end stunning Family Wall Portraiture at client's choice of location,
covers Wedding Photography exclusively for clients and action equine photography with owner/rider on location.
